Equus Workshop: Trust

“As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live.” – Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

TRUST,  a  one-day  equus  retreat  at  Creek  Hollow  Ranch,  Ramona  CA

Saturday,  January 19,  2013

Developing a profound sense of inner trust is a gift that will give you freedom—freedom to express yourself, engage easily with others, and live the life you’re meant to live.

Come join me and our wise four-legged teachers for a one-day equus retreat and experience the profound shifts that can happen when you learn to see yourself from the eyes of a horse.

How  Can  Horses  Teach  Trust?

To exist in the wild and to rely on their family herd for safety, nourishment, and well-being, horses have an innate sensitivity and ability to trust. They are the perfect teachers to show us how to develop trust from within.

Horses are deeply sensitive beings and are beautiful mirrors the moment you step into the roundpen. How you show up in the world is gently reflected back to you by the horse.

No horse experience needed, only the willingness to get a little dusty and have fun as these wise creatures remind you of your true nature. All coaching is on the ground, there’s no riding.

Experiential  Learning

The easiest way to make shifts is to experience change in action. It’s often not enough for your mind to know something. We teach you to drop out of your busy mind and into the wisdom of your body, where instinct, heart, and clarity exist.

Learning through experience is the most direct way to create profound shifts in your life.

Developing  Trust

Roadblocks

In order to cultivate trust, we’ll explore what’s holding you back from trusting yourself and others. Perhaps an experience from the past gave you plenty of evidence to not trust again. Or maybe you want to do something entirely new, and the unknown prevents you from taking a leap. You don’t really need to know why to begin, the horses will help us clearly see what’s holding you back.

Presence

We will practice presence and awareness. Learning to access the wisdom that is beyond your mental and analytical mind is groundwork for developing trust.

Internal Wisdom

Accessing and acting on internal instinct and intuition is at the heart of learning how to trust. Beyond the limited understanding of the thoughts and beliefs in your mind, you have a powerful force to rely on, a wisdom and guidance that is beyond words.

Play

Play is oddly linked to trust. The ability to do something with curiosity, exuberance, pleasure—to play—means that a sense of trust is inherent. You drop judgments, failure, protection to exist in play, where there are only experiments, imagining, and feedback. Play lets you track the hot and cold tracks of your life. Find out what amazing teachers horses can be in play.

“The time with Lisa and the horses far exceeded my expectations about what I could learn about myself and leadership. The session was the epitome of “show, don’t tell” in demonstrating how powerful we truly are as individuals. The horses, in addition to being beautiful creatures, are a unique vehicle to reveal while Lisa is a magnificent guide through the experience. Lisa’s ability to observe, connect and provoke both inspires and pushes you out of your comfort zone – two required ingredients for personal growth. Thanks, Lisa!”

“Furthering my journey with Lisa, I participated in her Equus weekend coaching retreat. I can honestly say that one weekend with the horses and Lisa was like 7 years of therapy. One of the most eye-opening and profound experiences in my life. What horses can teach you is beyond words…. It’s an opportunity I hope everyone can experience in their lifetime.”

“Trying to lead a 1200 lb animal can be intimidating, much like actively managing and motivating a diverse group of employees. I found equus training to be instrumental in illustrating several important facets of good management as well as pitfalls. In particular, I learned to provide clear, assertive and instinctual direction and to avoid passive-aggressive, micro-managerial and overly forceful tactics.”

– Scott Starkey, VP and GM, Aviation & Aerospace company

“Working with Lisa and the horses was such a powerful way to see myself and embody new life lessons.  Lisa’s skillful coaching helped me to process the interactions I had with the horses and then weave them into a metaphor for how I operate in the world. This is so cool because rather than simply learn some more facts about leadership,  I was able to really experience how I relate to others and use my energy to lead.  My favorite was doing the partner exercises with my wife!  I left with a new understanding and tangible ways to integrate them into my work and relationship…plus some good stories, pictures, and a suntan!”

“There is something gravely exhilarating about being in the center of a round ring with a 1,500 pound animal who is so sensitive to your energy that you can’t wear sunglasses. Working with Lisa was an unforgettable experience, as her deep intuition and quietly assertive guidance brought me a wealth of self insight.”
